Dunraven Castle
This was the home of the "wrecker lord", Thomas Vaughan, who was ruthless in luring ships onto the
rocks along the coastline. The wrecks and bodies would then be stripped of all valuables. His ghost
appears in our next entry underneath, but the castle is said to be haunted by a little old lady in a blue dress. She
leaves behind the smell of mimosa.
Southerndown Beach
This area is said to be the haunt of Thomas Vaughan. He now roams the area above the beach
and rocks where he inadvertently lured his own son to his death when returning from a voyage abroad. He can be seen
"in a long flowing cloak, moaning and crying" at the loss of his son by his own greed.
